Merge Generator – Options

In order to run this section you must have records in your Metadata Utility Library, fully filled out with all the necessary values in each field.
Failure to provide all the details on all the fields will result in incomplete, faulty ‘XML’ Files.

‘WMC XML Profile Cache’
Copy (Cache) existing Windows Media Center ‘XML’ Files to your Local Profile:
If you want to cache to your profile the already existing Windows Media Center XML File(s), then you can use ‘WMC XML Profile Cache’.
Once you’ve selected the records that you want to generate an ‘XML’ File for your Windows Media Center Library, then do the following:
-From Metadata Utility’s Main Switchboard,
-click on ‘Merge Generator Switchboard’
-click on ‘Metadata Utility Merge Switchboard’
-click on ‘WMC XML Profile Cache’

Note: ‘WMC XML Profile Cache’ may be needed/used if you have either manually or automatically through Metadata Utility have deleted your local Windows Media Center XML Cache from your Local Profile. In such case, then you can use this feature to Re-Cache the existing XML Files from your Windows Media Center Library to your Local Profile.

‘WMC XML Generate’
Generate Windows Media Center Metadata aka. ‘XML’ Files
If you have new movies, or edited the contents in your Metadata Utility and want to update that information into your Windows Media Center Library, and/or the Metadata Information for any given Movie is not showing up correctly, then you can Generate Windows Media Center ‘XML’ Files.
Once you’ve selected the records that you want to generate an ‘XML’ File for your Windows Media Center Library, then do the following:
-From Metadata Utility’s Main Switchboard,
-click on ‘Merge Generator Switchboard’,
-click on ‘Metadata Utility Merge Switchboard’,
-‘WMC XML Generate’

‘WMC XML-ID Generate’
Generate an XML-ID for Records in the Selected Queue that have no XML-ID (Batch Process).
-Alternative, if no records have been selected, then Metadata Utility will prompt if ‘all’ records should be selected and process all Records. Note This process will apply to only records in the ‘Selected Records Queue’ that have a missing XMl-ID. Any existing Records with an existing XMl-ID will not be impacted by this process (existing XML-ID will remain the same and will not be changed).

‘WMC Merge’
Advanced Troubleshooting option, mainly designed for a granulated and detailed troubleshoot of your Windows Media Center Metadata Metadata Library.
This feature is intended for users with advanced knowledge of Windows Media Center and/or as you ‘last resort’ option, when you are troubleshooting.
Under normal use, a user will always use either ‘WMC XML Profile Cache’ or ‘WMC XML Generate’.

Note: When you use ‘WMC XML Generate’, a brand new XML will be Created + that new created XML File will be Cached to your Local Profile automatically. In other words, when using ‘WMC XML Generate’, there is no need to additionally run ‘WMC XML Profile Cache’.
